Your wedding day
That's right, it's YOUR wedding day, and it's approaching fast. You have so much to do and so much to think of before your wedding day arrives.
Here's a few helping hints to make your wedding ceremony special and as hassle free and easy as possible for you:
- Be organised. By now you should have set the date, time and place of your wedding ceremony as well as your reception venue.
- Think about the kind of wedding ceremony you want. Traditional? Contemporary? Really detailed or simply elegant and brief? Are there special family traditions or cultural beliefs you'd like to include in your ceremony? Poetry or verse? Modern or Shakespearian? Music? Instrumental or vocal? Live or recorded?
- Choose your Marriage Celebrant. Check out all the Marriage Celebrants in your area, we're all professional, highly skilled, and we love our work. You deserve to find the one who will best suit your needs and those of your wedding ceremony.
- Begin work on the necessary paperwork. Your NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage) needs to be received by your Marriage Celebrant at least 31 days before your wedding. You will also need to have a full copy of both Birth Certificates and, if relevant, copies of Decree Nisi (Divorce Certificates).
- Decide if you will write your own wedding vows or if you'd prefer to have your Marriage Celebrant help you with these. Either way, your wedding ceremony will be unique, because it's yours.
- Decide whether your wedding ceremony will have special touches that will surprise and please your families and your guests, would you like some - or all - of your ceremony's details to be kept confidential?
- Personal touches for your wedding ceremony can include something unique to your love and your lifestyle. Examples of these could include a Grain Ceremony (see wedding photos), a Candle Lighting Ceremony to honour special family members or close friends, a Sand Ceremony that could represent your different geographical or country origins, a Family Blending Ceremony where your children are recognised and honoured as your new family life 'offically' begins, or some other kind of ceremony that symbolises the very special couple that you are.
Discuss these and other points with your chosen Marriage Celebrant to ensure that your wedding ceremony is the perfect one you've always dreamt of.
Then let your Marriage Celebrant work on creating your wedding ceremony so you can put your time and energy into some of the other very important details for your wedding day.
